Transport Minister Raymond Lim believes in making periodic checks to see first-hand what the situation is like on the ground.
On his most recent trip, he wanted to check if the situation had improved after the Public Transport Council raised service standards on frequency in August last year.
Since then, at least eight in 10 buses have to run every 10 minutes or less during peak hours. This is compared to 15 minutes previously.
For feeder buses, the standard is higher - at least nine in 10 buses every 10 minutes or less.
His most recent trip was on service 960, which plies between Woodlands and the city centre.
The trip came after he received feedback that it was very crowded during the 'peak of peak' period, from 7.30am to 8am.
When he boarded the bus, there was only standing room. At the back of the bus, there was more space between commuters.
He alighted at a busy bus stop in front of Block 270 along Bukit Panjang Road and noticed that service 960 arrived every six minutes. Service 190 came once every two to three minutes.
The buses did not fail the service standards.

Just why is so difficult if 10 for the period . Just put another 5 more .

Everyone knows before a MIW do something like visiting a constituency, or taking a bus ride, or a MRT ride (someone told dear leader he can see MRT from CTE??), all the porlumpas will disinfect the place to ensure no germs are left, clears all rubbish (peasants included), and put up a wayang.

Who can vouch that the bus are not specially arranged, together with all the actors inside and outside the bus so that MIW can priase it, hence a pay rise thereafter ?

Hmmmm...wonder why, if anyone noticed, that anything that a MIW do and say, there seemed to be all doubts about them ? Any possibility of a no-confidence vote instead of waiting for the coming election ?

I would personally invite Mr Lim to check out svc 145 during rush hours along Henderson Road.

you wait for 45 min only to find 3 x 145 to come - splendid.

Please ensure that those porlumpas do not get wind of your invitation.

Else they will clear the road and only allow the specific bus to travel, with 'passengers' planted.

Mr. Lim will then declare the buses are solid and still have tonnes of space to open the floodgate more since there are spare capacity.

Be warned.

Why did Lemon even bother to test the system with an entourage, together with news cameramen.
Just go alone and do it quietly. OK. to be fair to him, he should be allowed his personal bodyguards.
