Lee Kuan Yew said in February 2008: "I have not quite been sold on the idea that we should have 6.5 million. I think there's an optimum size for the land that we have, to preserve the open spaces and the sense of comfort." He projected, instead, an optimum population size of 5 to 5.5 million for Singapore.
Hongkong is much different from Singapore. HK has its own resources, and just behind its backyard is China, the motherland of everything. HK people will not go hungry or thirsty ! Standard of living and living costs are quite balanced is in the broad sense.
You see Angmohs and foreigners working in HK blend into its society , many whites there have Chinese surnames. They all use Cantonese to mingle. Hongkong has strong common cultures .So you see, this HK fabric will never be broken !
Singapore , a small island, a multi-racial society and now add on with mutli-nationalities ,with no culture , no identity, is a dangerous place if the island is overpopulated. Singapore is run like a family business, with a big population living on no natural resources will see social problems . Race riots will be the consequence ! The PM is not a very capable man, how long more he can run Singapore with sorry and could have done better ?
It’s no pushover to publish nice pictures on the papers and tell beautiful stories of land planning and skyscraper living, but it will be bloody pushover to live as one.
LKY and his kind-hearted friends did some of the things good for the Singaporeans in the past. But when the son takes over, society becomes messy, selectively !
Sometimes, heed advice from the elder may see a better future for singapore.
If the island is destroyed, the damage will be irreversible.
Hsien loong should keep his cool and think carefully once more because he is now the most hatred man in Singapore followed by Khaw and Teo.
Take some time off to think humanely for the local Singaporeans and speak with compassion with the heart for the people .
Yes, sustaining a good economy is the key to survive but to sacrifice the island just for GDP or political power is like raping the small island many times over !
Singaporeans must urge their underclass PAP MPs to fight alongside with Lee Kuan Yew. Peer pressure is not a healthy game to play. Life with happiness and identity is worth a living !
They say Lee Kuan Yew is a shrewd person and he could be right on population he warned, anything more than 5’5 million will see crises in near future.
PAP top dogs are rich people, they can retire somewhere else in the world if their campaign to gather their huge supporters fails big time. But the local people who voted for PAP for 50 years will live to regret for many generations to come !
