The total resident population of Singapore is almost 3.7 million. It grew 15.2% between 2000 and 2010 largely due the massive influx of foreign workers. The latest number of foreigners who have been granted PR status is 541,302.
The Chinese population grew 11.2%, Malays by 10.7%, Indians by 35% while Others grew by 171%. It can be concluded that the exponential increases in the Indian and Other population segments is largely due to foreigners from India and Philipines.
Analysis of the PR Population

Interestingly there are more female PRs from China , India and Philippines than males. One would assume they are employed in the services sector which has seen greater growth than others in the Singapore economy.
Breakdown of Voting Singaporeans
My estimate of the total number of potential young voters ( 21 to 34 years) as at 2010 is about 530,000. This represents about 17%. The number of middle age voters (35 to 54 years) is 1,340,000 representing about 42%. Total number of senior citizens (55 to 85+) is about 780,000. This amounts to about 24%.
Conclusion
The major voting group ( ie the middle aged) may not have a marked shift in voting preference as most would be reasonably comfortable in the economic sense. The shift in voting pattern may come from the increased younger voters, and the elderly who may have experienced hardships over the last five years or so. Traditionally, there would be 30% voting against the PAP.
It remains to be seen if the PAP will still receive 66.6% voter support in the coming GE.
