Tried out the Nikon D800E vs the Leica S at the shop this morning. There is really no appreciable difference in the quality of the images and the high ISO performance of the Nikon is poles above the Leica which starts to deteriorate beyond ISO200.

I'm getting the Nikon and saving myself more than $35,000 as I already have a full range of Nikon lenses. All I need is the 800E body.

If I go with the Leica, I'll need to start a lens collection of horrendously expensive Leica glass. It's worth every penny in terms of quality but much of what I take would not justify the purchase.

Leica S lenses price is just ridiculous. Only the rich need to apply.

But based on what did you say you cannot tell the difference, even the cheapest middle format beat best DSLR in resolution. You need a stand and lighting etc.

I also want to go to 800E, but i already have a expensive collection of L lenses, shit to replace all with nikkor equivalent.

I've decided on the 800E. Will pick it up tomorrow and test it out with my 17mm~35mm.

the grip of 800 is too small for my hand. i have no idea why it is so small.

your IQ180 have to use two types of batteries, and only last 1-2 hours. This is unusable outside the studio or house. That is so crazy.

leica turn latest viewfinder into a manual focus DSLR. yeah really? why not i buy an auto focus DSLR instead.

all these updates for the camera, i dun see the point.
