SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's brush with prostate cancer should serve as a call for potential leaders to rise to the forefront, to allowing the country to "plan for uncertainty", said Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Mr Lee was discharged on Wednesday, Feb 18, following a successful operation to remove his prostate gland, after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Mr Goh also underwent surgery for prostate cancer last November, and has since been given a clean bill of health.

"(Mr Lee) will be alright. But his prostate cancer, and mine too, show life's unpredictability," said Mr Goh in a Facebook post late on Tuesday.

"Hence, all the more reasons to plan for uncertainty. I hope competent men and women of integrity will step forward to carry Singapore into the future. We have achieved much but much more can be achieved. Don't drop the ball, Singapore."

So, is GCT urging Singaporeans to continue carrying the PAP's balls?
