KOTA KINABALU - A Singaporean climber, who was reported missing while training for the Mount Kinabalu climbathon early Saturday, has been found.

Woon Tai Kiang was found in a 150m deep ravine near Sayat-Sayat which is the last checkpoint before climbers make their way up to the summit.

He was discovered by Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) personnel at about 7.30am Sunday.

It is believed that Woon sustained serious head injuries when he slipped off the trail and fell into the ravine.

However, the rescue team has yet to confirm the extent of his injuries as they are still making their way down from the mountain.

More details are expected to be known later this afternoon.

The annual Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon, which was put on hold for one year following the June 5 earthquake in 2015, will be held on Oct 16.

After so many students died last year I'm surprised that the are they still sending 12 year olds to Mount Kinabalu:confused:

According to the news report, he is dead. :(

Bad karma for calling a person who suffers from a misfortune as gong kia.

That's my reaction too-could it be because nobody held accountable (again) and all these politicians and civil "servants" CONTINUED to be well paid despite all sorts of mishaps and death under their watch!

A society where the top are richly rewarded financially and yet not held responsible for cockups in their areas of jurisdiction while teenagers can be sent to jail for being critical of others (with no physical harm or financial loss to anyone).
Did teenager Amos cause more damage or those responsible for the deaths at the SGH hepatitis scandal?
70% voted for this?
