How come Jayakumar took so long and it was looking like it will never be resolved but when George Yeo's term, he managed to pacify the Malaysians and settled it amiably? Did GY "sold" the country away

The real reason behind the deal was because we had N by the balls with evidence of his association with miss A.
This deal would never have happened under Dr M, He would have insisted on the crooked bridge first.. So the fact that Najib agreed to the land exchange and the speed to which it happened was very surprising..
Equally surprising was how little 'noise' was coming from the malaysian opposition, they hardly talked about this KTM land deal...

I don't think Singapore got the perfect price for the lands. Neither would Malaysia consent to a deal where they were given little for something that is of great value to us. But at least they managed to meet somewhere in the middle and got this thing out of the way. Remember how LKY and GCT tried to settle this but did not manage to do so for many years.
