:oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo:
To clear the air after rumours spread that the police were banning kite-flying at Jurong Park, the Police report that they only asked kite-flyers to fly their kites at a lower height after complaints from a nearby airbase.
A netizen posted the said rumour and even claimed that a kite enthusiast quarrelled with police officers who did not allow him to fly his kite in the area.
The Police responds:
"Acting on complaints received from Tengah Airbase, Police officers responded to Jurong Central Park and advised kite-flyers to lower their kites to the stipulated height in accordance with the regulations under the Air Navigation Order.
"For reference, Section 64 of the Air Navigation Order states that:
"64. Balloons, kites and airships.

(a) a captive balloon or kite shall not be flown at a height of more than 200 feet above the ground level or within 60 metres of any vessel, vehicle or structure;
(b) a captive balloon shall not be flown within 5 kilometres of an aerodrome;
(c) a balloon exceeding two metres in any linear dimension at any stage of its flight, including any basket or other equipment attached to the balloon, shall not be flown in controlled airspace;
(d) a kite shall not be flown within 5 kilometres of an aerodrome;
