South Korean 19-year-old girl was "smelly" in the public toilet and died of brain damage after 2 months.
2019-10-04 16:46

Overseas Network October 4th In July this year, a 19-year-old female student in Busan, South Korea, was in a coma by inhaling "odor" in public toilets. The police confirmed that she died on September 27 after being admitted to hospital for nearly two months. . The hospital said that the female student died of hypoxic brain damage caused by hydrogen sulfide poisoning.

According to the Korean media hapskorea, the incident occurred in the early morning of July 29th. The girl entered a public toilet near the Guang'an Beach in Busan. After a while, she still did not see it. Her friends found that she fell in the toilet and immediately dragged it. Come out and carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After being sent to the hospital for treatment, the situation of the girl did not improve and she was in a coma.

The friend later told the police, "She (girl) did not come out for 20 minutes, I almost fainted twice, and spit a lot, because I smelled toxic gas." It is reported that hydrogen sulfide has a "smelly egg" smell, It is a colorless, highly toxic gas.

According to the "Korea Herald" news, the police preliminary investigation found that the air contains excessive hydrogen sulfide. Toxic gases are usually released by chemical reactions in sewage, septic tanks and garbage dumps, which can cause serious effects on the lungs, etc. It is reported that the concentration of hydrogen sulfide detected at the site is as high as 1000 ppm, which is 60 times higher than the safety standard of 15 ppm.

The local government believes that the exhaust pipe of this building has a history of more than 20 years and is the source of gas leakage. The person in charge of the office said that the septic tank project was going on in the early hours of the morning and hydrogen sulfide leaked out.

In December last year, three workers at a sewage treatment plant in Busan died, and at least seven others lost consciousness due to exposure to hydrogen sulfide.
