I read news that there are cases of local children being kidnapped by PRC..

This is serious case and why no media coverage on this..

The police are investigating a slew of online reports about alleged child kidnapping attempts in Singapore.

Four allegations were reported by anxious parents on the Internet in the past two week. The reports detailed how men and women had tried to lure children away or manhandle them or their strollers.

A police spokesman told The Straits Times that all reports are being taken seriously, and that officers are appealing for information.

He said the police will spare no effort to ascertain the veracity of these claims. He also advised the public not to be alarmed.

In the latest incident, a Facebook user said a Chinese woman had tried to abduct her five-year-old niece near a Bukit Panjang community centre.

On Tuesday, another Facebook user said a Chinese man tried to abduct her young son at Northpoint mall in Yishun.

The mother said the man grabbed one handle of the stroller while she was looking at a baby spa at the mall. Her maid was holding onto the other handle.

He left only after she turned and glared at him, she said.

Last Friday, a grandmother told the police that a woman had tried to lure her 10-year-old grandson into a van outside his school in Simei Street 5.

The woman said she had mistaken the boy for someone else after the grandmother confronted her.

In the last incident, Ms Allison Goon posted on Facebook on March 18 that a woman had tried to abduct her son at Ang Mo Kio Hub by taking his hand and leading him away.

The woman claimed to have mistaken the boy for another when confronted.

Parents and caregivers can ensure that children are kept safe with these safety tips:

- Ensure that their children are accompanied at all times and not let out of sight

- Teach children not to follow strangers.

- Childcare centres and pre-schools are advised to ensure that only the rightful parents or appointed guardians of children are allowed to come into contact with them.

Got this from a frd, hope all parents can be alert with our little ones.

Hi mummy friends . FYI
Alert for all parents in Singapore especially the ones residing in eastern part (Tampines, Pasir Ris & Simei) - 2 recent kidnapped cases just been reported this morning. A primary 3 boy from Griffiths Primary School at Tampines St 22 was last seen walking with a Chinese man seems to be a PRC guy around 7am in the morning of 29th March 2012. He was lured away just before he was abt to enter school compound. He is untraceable till this moment. Another case reported at Tampines too, a school girl was dragged and pushed into a white van by a Chinese lady also seems to be PRC citizen. She was kidnapped just before she entered her child care centre this morning. Few roadblocks are spotted along Tampines twds expressway and roads leading to other neighborhood. Pls take good care and be alert on our children's whereabouts. Spread the MSG pls.

Holy bird, is this true? I hope not. What is our country becoming???

There is no actual case of kidnapping but there are a lot of cases of paranoia. Although I understand why the parents seem to be overreacting, there is no need for the coz widespread panic for no good reason since nothing have actually happened yet.

And doesn't anyone find it makes little to no sense for the supposed PRC pple to kidnap kids here
1)It is far easier to do it in China
2)If they kidnap the kids, it's not as easy to smuggle them back into China
3)Combining points 1 and 2, if they wanted to kidnap them and smuggle them out the country, why in the world of F*** do they not kidnap them from the home country to begin with
4)Kidnapping and holding the kids for ransom in SG is stupid for 2 reason. First - Death Sentence and Second - given the size of SG, what are the chances of the kidnappers NOT getting caught if such a high profile case happens

Logical and sensible analysis brother. Hope it's not true and police can quash these rumours fast.
