THERE IS SILENCE ON THE NEED TO COMPARE OUR MINISTERS' SALARIES WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD, which is the main grouse of Singaporeans. So, let's not get too excited about the review yet.
It is also well and good to hear from Gerald Ee that certain expenses (like security detail) are paid for by the respective ministers. Precisely the reason why we have been asking for transparency.
Also, I think it is time for Gerald and Committee to ensure that we should not be making inferences that countries which pay their ministers less are more likely to be corrupted. It is not very diplomatic nor polite, apart from the fact that the statement is not quite true nor all en-compassing.
