Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing explained that there are already systems in place to assist needy families.
He pointed to ComCare which is available as financial assistance for day-to-day expenses and highlighted that families can apply for such assistance though the Social Services Offices (SSOs)
Minister Chan was responding to a question about whether there could be more sources of microloans made available to help needy families financially.
He elaborated that the government is making more SSOs so that there will be 23 by the middle of next year, an increase on the 14 there are now.
Mr Chan also said that there are several credit co-operatives available for microloans for those who have the ability to repay such loans.

He also said that there is already a MicroCredit business scheme for loans for microbusinesses.
It would seem that Chan Chun Sing is implying that there is already enough help through the current systems for those in need.
Do you think that the government already does enough for those in need?

Had the misfortune of catching him speaking on tv, and it looks like the moron is too busy to shave. :D

Riding on Harry's coattails made him clueless about the real world , real problems :oIo:

But do notice how rounded his face has become, and how prosperous he looks.
The most difficult part about watching him on TV is his really bad manner of speaking - poor pronunciation and enunciation - and trying to speak and sound well.

The PAP is providing far too much assistance for losers and is putting the country at risk of becoming a welfare state.

I would suggest they take a step back before the point is reached where welfare becomes an attractive lifestyle option.

The PAP's social programme is pathetic. It insults the notion of welfare.

I too am worried that with so many life lines out for welfare it will bankrupt our reserves.
