SINGAPORE: More than 2,500 new immigrants and Singaporeans came together for the inaugural Integration Carnival at the Singapore Discovery Centre.
The carnival, jointly organised by the People's Association and the Singapore Discovery Centre, was aimed at getting residents to interact with one another through various exciting activities.
Acting Minister for Community, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing said that for integration to happen, newcomers have to make the effort to get well-acquainted with the locals and their values while Singaporeans have to play their part to welcome them.
The carnival, themed "Connecting People, Making Friends", also saw the Amazing Integration Race, where teams worked together to complete challenges that introduced them to various aspects of the Singapore Story.
In a bid to share with new immigrants more about Singapore's heritage and culture, participants relived the good old days while trying their hand at traditional games, like five stones and top spinning.
There were also exhibits and carnival stalls which showcased Singapore's local customs, traditions and lifestyle.
