The press is trying to build him up as the next "thinker" ala George Yeo.
The lack of classy breeding tells - which is okay but to start acting classy, cute and "socratic" is something else altogether.

Kee Chiu and Georgie were both president's scholars, so that's where perhaps the comparisons start.

But at the rate he's going, he's probably closer to Zorro than Georgie.

Kee Chiu was grew up as a Prez Scholar in the worst of times, especially when many have achieved the same quals as him and not lived the the PAP "bubble" of isolation from the general populace.

Kee Chiu was never meant to be a ministerial caliber. Ask any scholar and you'll know that ministerial short listing starts at LTC/COL ranks. You start following the ministers around and once you hit BG, they'll take you out into MIW. Anyone who is a service chief means cannot make it and therefore, left for the likes for SMRT, STE etc.

The condition surrounding Kee Chiu's sudden departure from COA means PAP is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Take TPL and FT Indian lawyer MP.. both of examples of PAP hitting rock bottom.

It's not hard to attract talents as the salary is really good. But most of the capable ones shun PAP because of the negative image. Don't forget that it is mostly the higher educated and wealthier Singaporeans who voted for opposition.

That's why you have sub-standard caliber ministers who fucked up at every turn when the situation gets out of their script.
