The Jurong shipyard accident showed that Singapore must remain vigilant and continue to do better when it comes to workplace safety, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a Facebook post on Monday night.
"My sympathies to all those injured in the Jurong Shipyard accident. It was a serious accident, but could have been worse. The investigations will find out what went wrong, and needs to be put right." he wrote.
The accident underscored the fact that workplace safety is very important, he added.
"We owe it to workers to make sure the working environment is safe, and that everyone follows safe work practices," said Mr Lee.
