SINGAPORE - A Malaysian man was on Tuesday sentenced to a week in jail after pleading guilty to disorderly behaviour outside Jalan Besar Stadium on May 20.

While trying to join a group of fellow Johor Darul Takzim football club supporters, Mohamed Kamil Kamal Basha, 27, pushed through a police line and spoke aggressively to officers.

He persisted despite warnings to back away and claimed he wanted to "help his fellow countrymen", who had turned rowdy after being denied entry to the stadium for their team's match against Singapore Lions XII.

All of them had bought tickets meant for Singapore fans.
