SHAH ALAM: A nasi lemak seller had no choice but to package the popular dish without eggs because it has been difficult to get supply for the past two weeks.
Muhd Amareza Abu Bakar, 26, who sells nasi lemak at Section 30 here, said he had been getting complaints from customers who wanted their nasi lemak with eggs.
“I have been selling nasi lemak for the past two years. Customers who want nasi lemak with eggs for their children have been complaining," he said.
He added that he sells nasi lemak both in the morning and evening, and eggs are usually sold out early.
“Customers (in the evening) often complain because there is no choice of side dish for them as they want eggs for their children,” he said.
The shortage of eggs along with the rise in prices has been affecting traders and the public who depend on the protein source.
According to Sinar Harian, surveys at several sundry shops and supermarkets in Sections 30 and 31 here found that the supply of chicken eggs was inconsistent.
However, the survey also found that the price of eggs was under control, in compliance with the regulations set by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
