Chitchat Jippun no more rice unlike Sinkies

more than that, jp has this stupid longstanding policy of acreage cutbacks for rice farmers. this is to reduce production and supplies in order to keep price of rice high. the gov then subsequently pays farmers a high price to further restrict supply and keeps a substantial reserve of unpolished rice (or rice still in husks). last year, a combo bunch of reasons contributed to a perfect storm of shortages: news of a megaquake caused panic buying by both consumers and wholesalers, wholesalers stocked up on whatever inventories were available and kept them in warehouses as a hedge against further price hikes, japanese eating habits changed back to rice products after years of the war in ukraine resulted in shortages and price increases on flour and non-rice staples. after the panic buying jp officials still refused to act to address the supply problem. it’s not like they can easily import rice to address this issue as japanese consumers prefer the (short stubby and shiny) japonica grain not jasmine nor basmati nor california long grain that are sexported by other cuntries in large quantities. the stupid farm and agriculture ministry of jp (deep state bureaucrats) have no clue how the shortage suddenly materializes (they at least admit it). they still think all rice production and distribution in jp is tracked thru’ the ministry. but they miss the distribution that exist via online purchases and selling (at high prices) by unscrupulous 3rd party “wholesalers” that sprout out of nowhere (may be ccp tiong syndicates are involved). they also lost track of registered wholesalers hoarding “secret” stashes. plus, the reserves that the gov keeps for events like these are not immediately usable by consumers as they need processing capacity and time to process and refine husked rice to polished rice. yet, the gov refuses to let loose the reserves. just 10% release so far. not enough to solve a snowballing problem. for a long term solution they need to peel back the acreage cutback policy on farmers, allow farmers to produce more and export the excess supply to cuntries now hungry for japonica grains as more foreigners eat sushi and jap style cuisine.

Normally when they make silly policies, there is always somebody making huge money from it.

The rice importer maintained a substantial markup to demand an excessive amount before releasing to the public

acreage cutbacks are related to jp’s aging and decreasing population, but they forget that a weak yen, beautiful sceneries, excellent transportation and hospitality sectors, (and tight pretty pussies) contribute to a surge in tourism. millions more tourists mean more f&b consumption which also impact the demand and supply problem. californicate produces the japonica grain but the amounts are not adequate for sexport to jp. they are already in demand stateside for countless jap style sushi restaurants. plus asiatics and americans alike in america like the short stubby shiny strain as they taste “sweeter” when served with sweet jap curry and other donburi or onigiri type dishes.
