Without these 3 folks as well as NSP doing massive damage control online and drawing a clear line between the event and Gilbert, the xenophobic post issued just one day prior would have been a dark cloud hanging over the event.

Gilbert should fucking thank NSP and these 3 chaps for sticking to their guns and resisting calls to withdraw for fear that they would lose political points. In the end, the anti xenophobic calls at Hong Lim Green rang as loud as the anti white paper calls, and the day was saved.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Singaporeans are afraid of a bit of competition. They want the government to reserve jobs for them just because they aren't good enough to compete on a level playing field.

This is no different from the bumi policy up North where jobs are reserved for the Malays because they can't compete otherwise.

That's rubbish. If you score straight "A"s and become a scholar, you qualify for a job with the MIW regardless of your background. It does not matter what your surname is. Even a CHAN can become a potential PM.
