Yusuke Maeda has been charged. (the Internet)
A man in Osaka, Japan, attempted to smuggle "National Treasure" bovine fertilized eggs and semen last year, which was intercepted by Chinese Customs and confiscated when returning to China. Japanese police arrested two men involved in the case for allegedly violating the law on the prevention of livestock infectious diseases and formally sued them on Friday (29th).
The indictment alleged that the defendant’s 51-year-old rotisserie owner, Maeda Yusuke, and his 64-year-old boyfriend, Kokura Riki, conspired to co-operate on June 29 last year without receiving an export inspection by the livestock epidemic prevention officer. The straws are placed in a cryopreservation container and transported to a ferry that is moored in the port of Sumiyoshi-gu, Osaka, to Shanghai, China, and illegally exported.
After arriving in Shanghai, Xiaocang was banned from bringing in relevant items by the relevant Chinese authorities on July 1. It was confiscated when it was returned to Japan. The police said that Maeda and others had brought bovine semen to China at least four times in 2012, so the cattle may have been breeding locally.
In addition, the police said that Maeda’s mobile phone had a record of communications with personnel from China’s Hainan Island Ranch, and it was possible to accept the commission of such personnel. A female employee of a ranch company said in an interview that she did not know the details and could not answer.
