if any of them are christians, then it is a safe bet that there is adultery involved as it is the only valid ground for divorce (though some protestant churches believe in grounds of 'unreasonable behaviour' too - but will refuse to marry any one who divorces on such grounds)

but if they are catholics, adultery is not even a valid ground for divorce

nonetheless these are church laws and there are subtle distinctions across churches
