SINGAPORE: A 61-year-old driver who slashed his wife with a penknife in the heat of anger has been sentenced to seven weeks' jail.
Lim Kim Chua admitted to hurting his 36-year-old Vietnamese wife with a penknife that he had grabbed while they were in the midst of a dispute.
The incident happened in September this year in their flat at Henderson Road.
His wife sustained minor injuries.
In pleading for leniency, Lim told the district judge that he is the sole breadwinner, and has to support his wife and 18-month-old son.
Lim could have been jailed up to two years and fined S$5,000. - CNA/ec
