<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A MOTORIST was jailed for two weeks and banned from driving for five years on Tuesday for causing the death of a motorcyclist at a signalised junction. Tan Teik Soon, 39, pleaded guilty last month to causing the death of Mr Mohan Kumar Ramarao, 19, by doing a negligent act at the junction of Yishun Avenue 1 and Mandai Avenue on Oct 2, 2007. He had failed to give way to vehicles with the right of way while making a right turn which resulted in the collision. On impact, the motorcycle spun and landed in the middle of the intersection. Mr Ramarao, who was unconscious, was lying face upwards without a helmet on his head. He died about an hour later in hospital. Tan could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for causing death by doing a negligent act.
