Since the Public Service Leadership scheme was introduced in 2000, 13 permanent secretaries have retired from the Administrative Service. Where are they now?
MR PETER HO
September 2010: Retires as Head of Civil Service and Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) at 56.
Now: Senior adviser to the Centre for Strategic Futures, which falls under the Strategic Policy Office in the Public Service Division; senior fellow, Civil Service College.
MR LIM SIONG GUAN
October 2006: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Finance) at 59 after serving as Head of Civil Service from 1999 to 2005.
Now: Group president of Government of Singapore Investment Corp (GIC).
PROF KISHORE MAHBUBANI
October 2006: Retires at 57 after serving as Singapore's Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1984 to 1989 and from 1998 to 2004. Former Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs).
Now: Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
MR EDDIE TEO
December 2005: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Prime Minister's Office) at 58.
Now: Chairman of the Public Service Commission.
MR KOH CHER SIANG
July 2005: Retires as Commissioner of Inland Revenue and CEO of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore at 59. Former Permanent Secretary (Education).
Now: Chairman of the Housing Board. Sits on the boards of Singapore Airlines, CapitaLand and other firms.
MR TAN CHIN TIONG
July 2004: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) at 59.
Now: Ambassador to Japan.
MR TAN GEE PAW
April 2001: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Environment) at 57.
Now: Chairman of the Public Utilities Board. Sits on the boards of Ascendas, Singapore Millennium Foundation and other organisations.
MR TEO MING KIAN
October 2009: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Finance) and Permanent Secretary for National Research and Development (NRD), Prime Minister's Office, at 57.
Now: MediaCorp chairman from July. Adviser (Special Projects), Finance Ministry. Reappointed Permanent Secretary (NRD) after retirement.
DR TAN CHIN NAM
January 2008: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Information, Communications and the Arts) at 57.
Now: Chairman of the Media Development Authority. Director of Stamford Land Corporation, Raffles Education Corporation and other companies.
MR LAM CHUAN LEONG
April 2006: Retires as Second Permanent Secretary (Special Projects, Finance Ministry) at 58.
Now: Ambassador-at-large. Chairman of the Competition Commission of Singapore.
MR TAN GUONG CHING
August 2005: Retires as Permanent Secretary (Home Affairs) at 58.
Now: Non-executive chairman of ST Telemedia, StarHub and ST Aerospace.
MR KOH YONG GUAN
