  • Turkey has halted trade with Israel until end of Gaza war
  • Move not likely to dent Israel's economy, say economists
  • Bilateral trade was $6.2 billion in 2023, down 23% from 2022
  • Israeli importers seeking alternatives to Turkey
  • Some Toyota and Hyundai autos still stuck at Turkish ports
Israeli-Turkish trade has weathered many bilateral diplomatic storms over the decades and stayed on course, reaching billions of dollars a year, but Israelis fear it may not survive the latest rift over the war in Gaza.
Turkey this month halted all bilateral trade with Israel until the war ends and aid can flow unhindered into Gaza. Israel said Turkey's move violated World Trade Organization rules.

Israel is now a pariah state. Most nations wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Turkey imPosed sanctions only after Erdogan lost big in recent election and after 7 months of slaughter.
