Defense Minister Israel Katz warns Lebanon that it will pay a “full price” if Hezbollah continues to threaten Israel, saying Beirut has failed to meet its commitment to disarm the Iran-backed group, as outlined by the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.
Speaking after a situation assessment with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other senior defense officials, Katz says Israel will not allow attacks on its troops or communities from Lebanese territory, saying that residents will not be evacuated.
“You committed… to uphold the agreement and disarm Hezbollah, and that is not happening,” Katz says in a message to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. “Act and take action before we do even more.”
Katz says Israel has no territorial demands from Lebanon but will not accept a return to years of cross-border attacks.
“If [Hassan] Nasrallah destroyed Lebanon, then Naim Qassem will destroy it as well along this path,” he warns.
The comments come as Israel continues its military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon after the Iran-backed terror group began launching rockets and drones at Israel in support of Tehran during the ongoing US-Israel war against the Iranian regime.
