Saudi Arabia and Russia among 37 states backing China's Xinjiang policy

GENEVA (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia, Russia and 35 other states have written to the United Nations supporting China’s policies in its western region of Xinjiang, according to a copy of the letter seen by Reuters on Friday, in contrast to strong Western criticism.

China has been accused of detaining a million Muslims and persecuting ethnic Uighurs in Xinjiang, and 22 ambassadors signed a letter to the U.N. Human Rights Council this week criticizing its policies.

But the letter supporting China commended what it called China’s remarkable achievements in the field of human rights.

“Faced with the grave challenge of terrorism and extremism, China has undertaken a series of counter-terrorism and deradicalization measures in Xinjiang, including setting up vocational education and training centers,” the letter said.

The letter said security had returned to Xinjiang and the fundamental human rights of people of all ethnic groups there had been safeguarded. It added there had been no terrorist attack there for three years and people enjoyed a stronger sense of happiness, fulfillment and security.

As well as Saudi Arabia and Russia, the letter was signed by ambassadors from many African countries, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, Belarus, Myanmar, the Philippines, Syria, Pakistan, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Beijing has denied any human rights violations in the region and Chinese Ambassador Xu Chen, speaking at the close of the Council’s three-week session on Friday, said China highly appreciated the support it had received from the signatories.

Thats because islamic nations themselves persecute, kill, torture, massacre, indulge in genocide, ...of fellow muslims and when they attend OIC meetings, call one another as brothers.

It is notable that the list of countries that support the policy include North Korea and this provides credence to the claim that there are no human rights violations taking place.

PETALING JAYA: After riling up netizens with his apparent endorsement of China’s defence of detention camps in the Xinjiang province, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa appears to be questioning reports about Beijing’s policies against Muslims, saying they could be “false news”.
“False news in China about Muslims being oppressed could trigger a wave of sympathy to the oppressed and affect relationships,” Mujahid said in a speech he delivered at the Beijing Foreign Studies University yesterday.
He then made comparison to claims of Hindus in Malaysia being mistreated.
“While false news about Hindu followers being treated unjustly by Muslims in Malaysia, for example, could trigger hatred towards the Muslim minority in India,” he added.

The remarks come in the wake of criticism of Mujahid’s use of the term “training centre” to refer to a controversial camp set up to “re-educate” Muslim dissidents in the restive Xinjiang province.
Following his visit, Mujahid wrote on Facebook: “This centre carries out industrial training activities and teaches a variety of skills such as sewing, legal class, arts and flower arrangement,” he wrote on Facebook in a post accompanied by pictures of his visit.
The post immediately drew criticism from Facebook users, who said Mujahid was parroting Chinese propaganda in describing detention camps in Xinjiang as “training centres”.
China recently denied the existence of such camps, but later said they were “vocational centres” to help “save” people from extremist influences.
Rights bodies have long accused China of cracking down on dissent in Xinjiang under the guise of fighting Muslim extremism.
In his speech, Mujahid said Malaysia and China shared similar approaches in integrating different ethnic groups.
“Malaysia practices national integration through preserving each ethnic group’s own culture and traditions but are united as one big family of being a Malaysian.
“Peoples Republic of China (PRC) resembles the same approach of keeping each ethnic group with their own identity but integrating towards a big family unit as one.”
He said both the constitutions of Malaysia and China provided their citizens the right to practise their religions.
“The only difference being that the Malaysian constitution stipulates Islam as the religion of the federation while PRC does not consider any religion as a state religion,” he said.
Mujahid also praised China’s efforts to combat extremism.

“PRC too is actively resorting to such an approach on her long journey of creating a peaceful and harmonious world.”

If you want to find the best joke of 2019, watch this video.
quote:
Q:biggrin:id you come here on your own?
A: Yes! I don't know the laws very well in the past... I come here to learn...a policeman introduce me to this school...

Q: Did you commit any crime?
A (Chio bu): I did not commit any crime; I only made some mistakes...

Q: Do you do your five prayers?
A: No. The law here says we cannot practice religion in public places and school is a public place.

Q: How long do these inmates learn to make a bed?
A, Official : 2 - 4 months!

Q: Is this not just a prison?
A: Do you have a prison where the people are doing oil painting?

An official's statement: You can see that these people has the ability to kill people...Do you wait until they killed people to take action or do you not better prevent the killing before they happen...
end-quote

Uyghur dumbness - takes months to make a bed.
Chinese brilliance - can predict the future.
School is a public place and the Chinese defecate all over in the public!
Chou Ah! Huat Ah!

Mujahid Yusof Rawa is human,he needs to eat. He therefore must talk "properly" in order to bring home the bacon. Let Mujahid's children enroll in the training centers.

The world is as hilarious as it could ever be. The world too is as corrupt as it could ever be. The governments pay millions of dollars to fund research into the neutrino that does not exist; Wolfgang Pauli made a dumb hypothesis and the world thereafter follow its lead pouring millions into neutrino experiments. Even China is having a huge neutrino detector under construction. Hope the Chinese is not so dumb to be the next sucker spending billions to build the largest ever supercollider to become the biggest sucker of all times. Hopes somebody warns Xi Jinping and don't just listen to Wang Yifang, head of the IHEP, Chinese Institute of High Energy Physics.

At least nine people died and 12 others were injured on Friday when a child was used to carry out a suicide attack on a wedding party in eastern Afghanistan, local officials said.
The attack took place in Nangarhar province's Pachiragam district.
Provincial spokesman Attaullah Khugyani said the child was used to target a pro-government militia commander in Friday morning's attack.
The Islamic State group (IS) later said it carried out the attack.
IS in Afghanistan, also known as IS Khorasan, is known to be active in Pachiragam.
The group has been blamed for a number of deadly attacks in Afghanistan - including a suicide bombing at a Kabul education centre last year that killed dozens of people.
The Press Trust of India news agency reported that the child used in Friday's suicide attack was a young teenager. Malik Noor, the pro-government militia commander targeted in the attack, and two of his sons were among the dead.
Pro-government militias often work alongside Afghan security forces to prevent territory falling into the hands of Taliban and IS militants
The attack comes days after a historic peace conference between Taliban insurgents and Afghan representatives saw a pledge to minimise civilian casualties. The two sides agreed on a "roadmap to peace" seen as having laid the ground for formal talks in the future.

I think serious Islamic terrorism will not happen in Xinjiang. This Chinese crackdown on the Uyghurs is very effective as China has the resources. You have so many detained and the rest will be quite, just human nature.

In fact, the fate of Xinjiang has been sealed. Through transmigration policy, Xinjiang is no longer a Muslim majority, but a Han majority. I think more Han would go to Xinjiang in the future as competition there for a living may not be as intense.

The Uyghurs have no choice but to pray that they could live fairly decently as a minority. Islam in Xinjiang may end if China does as ruthlessly as the Christians did to undermine Islam when they reconquered Spain; Islam disappeared in Spain.

Cheena CCP is terrified of religions, whether muslims or buddhism...they have been destroying temples too...https://bitterwinter.org/buddhist-statues-disappearing-throughout-china/

And prosecuting Christians.. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...tians-religious-persecution-translation-bible

The Xinjiang people arent the only ones being targeted lah...
It is true. But for Buddhists and Christians, you could lie when you are caught and questioned : "I now don't believe in Jesus... " As a Muslim, there are difficulties; they may have to eat pork to prove they are now non-religious.

There is something I like to joke about. If you are given a choice to rule over Buddhists or Muslims, which would you choose?

I would chose to rule over Buddhists. If you are their governor and the most corrupt and hateful one that ever tread the earth, you still could be safe and enjoy your life. If they can't take your extremes any longer, they would pour kerosene over themselves and burn themselves to tell you how sad they are over the state of affairs in the land.

When you rule over Muslims and your dare to be the most corrupt and hateful of a governor over them, in the middle of the night, they will surround your residence with firewood, pour kerosene and set fire to your whole house and family - you, your wife, children, grannies, grandchildren including the family dogs and cats.

UNITED NATIONS: Saudi Arabia on Thursday (Jul 18) defended signing a letter along with 36 other countries in support of China's policies in its western region of Xinjiang, where the United Nations says at least one million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims have been detained.
China has been widely condemned for setting up detention complexes in remote Xinjiang. It describes them as "education training centres" helping to stamp out extremism and give people new skills.

Last week nearly two dozen nations at the UN Human Rights Council wrote a letter calling on China to halt it mass detention. In response, Saudi Arabia, Russia and 35 other states wrote a letter commending what they called China's remarkable achievements in the field of human rights.
When asked about Saudi's support for the letter, Saudi UN Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi told reporters in New York that the "letter talks about China's developmental work, that's all it talks about, it does not address anything else."
"Nobody can be more concerned about the status of Muslims anywhere in the world than Saudi Arabia," he said. "What we have said in that letter is that we support the developmental policies of China that have lifted people out of poverty."
A copy of the letter, seen by Reuters, said security had returned to Xinjiang and the fundamental human rights of people of all ethnic groups there had been safeguarded.

"Faced with the grave challenge of terrorism and extremism, China has undertaken a series of counter-terrorism and deradicalisation measures in Xinjiang, including setting up vocational education and training centres," the letter read.
Human Rights Watch U.N. Director Louis Charbonneau said Al-Mouallimi's characterisation of the letter was "a slap in the face of Muslims being persecuted in China, inaccurate to the point of absurdity."
Earlier this month the United States and Germany slammed China during a closed-door UN Security Council meeting over the detention centres. In response, China told diplomats them they had no right to raise the issue in the Security Council as it was an internal matter for his country.
In June the United States, Britain and other western countries objected to a visit by the UN counterterrorism chief to Xinjiang, concerned the visit would validate China's argument that it was tackling terrorism.
US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan spoke with UN Secretary-General António Guterres ahead of the trip to convey Washington's concerns because "Beijing continues to paint its repressive campaign against Uighurs and other Muslims as legitimate counterterrorism efforts when it is not."
