The Battle of the Red Cliff was a decisive battle fought at the end of the Han dynasty, about 12 years prior to the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history. It was fought in the winter of between the allied forces of the southern warlords Liu Bei and Sun Quan and the numerically superior forces of the northern warlord Cao Cao. Liu Bei and Sun Quan SUCCESSFULLY frustrated Cao Cao's effort to conquer the land south of the Yangtze River and reunite the territory of the Eastern Han dynasty. The allied victory at Red Cliffs ensured the survival of Liu Bei and Sun Quan, gave them control of the Yangtze, and provided a line of defence that was the basis for the later creation of the two southern states of Shu Han and Eastern Wu. - See more at: http://sg50election.blogspot.sg/201...fs-general-election.html#sthash.SddAfrve.dpuf

The PAP incumbent team for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC is led by Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen. After his nomination was confirmed, he had the OPPORTUNITY to address the crowd gathered at the nomination centre in Raffles Institution.

While most other nominated politicians addressed their own party supporters, Ng addressed the elephant in the room – the jeering from opposition supporters – head on.

Turning to those jeering at his speech, Ng said, “Year by year we will improve your lives, even if you jeer against us, we will improve your lives.”

He continued with, “And the more you jeer, the more we will continue to improve it even more.”

Looks like he is bringing more than just knuckle-dusters to this fight.
