....On Aug 28, the Law Society of Singapore launched a $2 million project to increase public access to legal aid. This includes the introduction of mobile legal clinics to reach out to sex workers. These will be launched next year. A Vietnamese sex worker - who wanted to be known only as Lucy - told The New Paper recently that these cases often go unreported because many are afraid of prosecution themselves....Here on a social visit pass, Lucy works as a freelance prostitute at one of Geylang's many clubs....

Prostitution is not an offence in Singapore, but it is against the law to solicit in public. Sembawang GRC MP Vikram Nair, who is a member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Home Affairs and Law, said the issue addressed here is separate. "I don't think that is the intention of the Law Society. The people in the sex trade also need protection as they may be victims of crimes themselves. "Also, I don't think it is the intention of the lawyers volunteering in the programme to teach these workers how to get around laws either," he said..

This MP is another blind one who cannot see what is white and what is black.

If prostitutes working in licensed brothels are given access to legal aid by the Law society, it makes sense to help them when in trouble. They are after all given permit by SPF to work as call girls.

When foreigners come into sinkie land on social visit pass to work as hookers illegally are also entitled to receive legal aid even though they are prohibited under the laws from working in the country, the papees might as well close down ICA.

This stupid MP from Sembawang GRC only knew how to talk cock. How could he encourage the law society to help illegal hookers in the country? He should have told the law society to confine their legal aid to those call girls in the licensed brothels only.
