It is appalling to see that the cleaners and bus drivers here get paid so little. I think what is worse, is that the age of the average cleaner might be higher here in SG, thatn in any other country.
The continuing practice of hiring low wage workers to fill such positions is really sickening to me. Contractors and middle-men prey on the old, the disabled and the unfortunate.. even the out of jail folks.. and suppress their income so much.. that their living on a hand-to-mouth basis every month.
This needs to be stopped.. before elder workers face even more discrimination and unfair treatment. If their avg monthly income is raised to at least 1.8k a month, I'm sure they will have more to spend on necessities, and even save a little for the rainy day.
Seriously, the employers who just take the short-cut on hiring.. push the blame on "supposed sg ppl who don't want low pay jobs", but instead hire cheap foreign workers.. and suppress the elderly even more.. are the ones to blame for income disparity. The govt does not escape the blame as it is one entitiy that is both directly and indirectly supporting this kind of practice.. and even doing it themselves.
By pushing the blame on Sinkies, employers justify their hiring of foreign workers.. and by pointing to the willingness of foreign workers to take on low pay, they are making it hard for all to raise avg wages. The end result is that employers and biz owners get fat profits, while the ordinary folk continue to feel the heat.
Thank you 60+% who voted for the incumbent ruling party! You all have made it so hard to live in SG. And we are supposed o be a developed country.. without tons of stuff most developed countries have.. Farging hell!!
