Is 38 Oxley a National Monument or merely a Party Monument?

If it is a National Monument, then the State should have a say, but if it is merely a Party Monument commemorating the founding of the PAP, then let the Party fight it out with the family. Parliament should not interfere.

The trouble is Singaporeans are unable to distinguish between Party and State. PAP is Singapore. Thanks to our shallow education system we are no better than followers of the Party line rather than independent thinkers.

How about making the venue of the founding of the Singapore branch of UMNO or the Malayan Communist parties National Monuments as well, if the PAP's birthplace is to be commemorated as a National Monument? After all, both the communist PLEN and UMNO's Tunku Abdul Rahman also featured prominently in Singapore's history.......

Can make it into a shrine for the opposition? After all PAP was once in opposition

Only difference is, there seems to be a lack of monument for tunku abdul rahman even in malaysia. Not even a road named after him.
Jalan tuanku abdul rahman in kl is named after the first agung.

I just find it curious why PAP, or at least some of its leaders, feel there is a need for any sort of LKY or PAP monument.

The oppies are nowhere close to challenging PAP's dominance for at least two generations. Few people in their right mind will vote for the oppies even if it was out of anger over the mrt breakdowns, virus outbreak or national security lapse.

what difference does it make?the party is the nation and the nation is the party.read Big brother in 1984.

i make no apologies that PAP is the government and the government is PAP.

Oh well... perhaps you are right. Fuck the PAP! :D:D:D

SMLJ must drag my good name into the family feud

After fucking the PAP, do remember to continue voting for them as usual. That's what I always tell the uncles during grassroots outreach. Looking at the margins that PAP win each time, it seems that that's what those uncle still do!

there are two education institutions

The oppies are so synonymous with incompetence and unreliable candidates that they have no chance of beating PAP in the next 3-4 GEs.

WP won the GRC largely thanks to the credentials of Chen Show Mao back in 2011, where for the first time, a person with an impeccable CV joined the oppies. That actually swung enough votes to put WP over the line. If not for Chen's credentials, Aljunied GRC would still be a PAP ward today.
