The 13th round of interfaith dialogue between Islam and Orthodox Christianity will be held in Iran, an Iranian official says.
Mohammad-Mahdi Imanipour, head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, made the announcement on Saturday during a visit to Russia's Kazan, where he met Metropolitan Cyril of Kazan and Tatarstan Mikhail Nakonechny.
He hailed the successful holding of 12 rounds of talks and hoped that the next round will be able to provide strategies for the effective role of religion and spirituality in the future multi-polar world.
Experts in Iran, in cooperation with researchers from eight other countries, are currently working on a reassessment of the role of religion in today's life, he added.
Imanipour also referred to the Palestine issue and Israeli crimes in Gaza, calling on followers of divine religions to confront the genocide of Palestinians and their forced displacement from their homeland.
Metropolitan Cyril, for his part, underlined the need for resolving the Palestinian issue and ending the atrocities that the occupying regime is committing against Palestinians in flagrant violation of human rights.
Meanwhile, Metropolitan Cyril expressed dismay that today’s world is facing fundamental identity and moral challenges.
He further expressed his satisfaction with the talks with the Iranian delegation and described Kazan as an example of the peaceful coexistence among followers of religions.
