An intellectually disabled girl suffered a two-day ordeal of rape and violence by her older half-brother, and was subjected to a string of brutal assaults when she was supposed to be under his care.
The attacks occurred when the 18-year-old was sent by her family to live with the 'stern' petrol kiosk worker in March 2010, reported The Straits Times today.
The accused not only raped her, but told his wife to hold on to the victim's legs while he was attacking her, and also forced the victim to watch him having sex with his spouse before he attacked her again.
He pleaded guilty on Tuesday to rape, sodomy and possession of obscene films. The case has been adjourned until Monday for the attacker's lawyer to make a mitigation plea. His wife has not been charged.
The teenager, who was described as of low intelligence, moved in with a younger half-brother and his family in 2006 after her mother died.
However, he had trouble caring for her and in March 2010, he reprimanded her for wanting to quit her job at a fast-food restaurant.
She was sent to stay with the older half-brother that night, who is 18 years her senior and has a young son.
He started grilling her about an abortion she had in 2009 almost as soon as she arrived to stay with him.
At about midnight, he told her he wanted to punish her and make her feel the pain. He made her strip, told his wife to undress, and took off his own clothes, reported the newspaper.
He then pushed the girl down on the mattress and told his wife to grab her legs, which she held on silently as he forced himself on the victim.
He sexually assaulted her until 6am despite her pleas to stop and at one point, he hit her on the head with an ashtray. Afterwards, he left for work while the wife watched over the girl.
That evening, he asked his wife to put on a pornographic movie. He then told the girl to learn from them while he had sex with his spouse.
He later sexually assaulted her again, saying he was punishing her for what she had done in the past.
Two days later, the girl went to her stepfather's home and told him what had happened. She fainted and was taken to the hospital. Her half-brother was arrested after a police report was made.
The Straits Times said that nobody involved in the case can be named to avoid identifying the victim, who is now 21 years old and working as a factory operator. She is also living with her other half-brother.
The man faces a punishment of up to 20 years in jail and either a caning or a fine.
