A Singaporean woman, Genie Yamaguchi, 30, has been charged for stealing more than S$600 worth of products from the Don Don Donki supermarket.
According to
Shin Min Daily News, Yamaguchi, an influencer, pleaded guilty in court on Aug. 26.
Stole items at 2:30am
Court documents revealed that at around 2:30am on Aug. 25, 2024, Yamaguchi and her friend, Lee Suet Keay, Cheryl, stole several items from the Don Don Donki supermarket at Orchard Central.
The duo stole a total of 27 items, a majority of which were makeup and skincare products.

Caught by a staff member who was on duty
Shin Min reported that Yamaguchi and Lee had put the items in their cart and left the store without paying.
However, when they met up later, they were recognised by a staff member who was on duty.
The staff member alerted his manager, who reviewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and confirmed that the items had been stolen.
A police report was filed subsequently.
Returned 9 items
Lee and Yamaguchi were arrested the following month, but only returned nine of the stolen items.
According to
Shin Min, the two later offered to compensate for the remaining items.
The prosecution noted that Yamaguchi had no prior criminal record, and requested an assessment to determine her suitability for a Day Reporting Order (DRO).
DRO is a type of community-based sentence that requires the offender to report to a day reporting centre for monitoring, counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Yamaguchi's lawyer agreed, pointing out that Yamaguchi had compensated Don Don Donki for the items stolen on Aug. 22.
Lee faces three additional charges
Yamaguchi's friend, Lee, faces three additional charges.
According to court documents, the 29-year-old allegedly stole a pair of Crocs slippers worth S$90.97 from a Watsons outlet at Suntec City on Aug. 23, 2024.
Just a few days later, on Aug. 27, 2024, she reportedly stole a Starbucks tumbler worth S$44.90 from the Starbucks outlet at Jurong Point.
