The Bombay High Court on Friday ordered the Maharashtra government and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to decide on an application asking why her Indian citizenship should not be cancelled in view of her dual citizenship.

Petitioner Mrunalini Kakade claimed that Sule is the director of Laguna International Pvt Ltd and a permanent resident of Singapore.

Kakade sought that Sule ceases to be an Indian citizen ‘for these and other reasons’. Sule would then be liable for disqualification as an MP.

</td></tr></tbody></table>The Pune resident contested the parliamentary election from Baramati constituency against Sule, who was elected MP.

In an application to the MHA dated June 22, 2009, Kakade stated that since Sule had voluntarily given up citizenship of India, she should cease to be an Indian citizen.

Kakade pointed out that Sule was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2007 till she was elected from the Baramati.

In her affidavit, Sule revealed she has a property in Singapore. “Under the provisions of law in Singapore, she cannot purchase property unless she is a permanent resident,” Kakade submitted.

Kakade has filed an RTI plea seeking information on Sule’s status in Singapore. Her permanent resident identification number was declared following that.

The MHA told Kakade that its ministry was investigating the matter and that her application was sent to the State Government. Kakade, unhappy with the MHA’s handling of the matter, wrote to them saying that such an inquiry should be made through a committee.

The MHA replied that unless the state and its investigating agency provided them with a report, no action could be taken. “There appears to be dilly-dallying on part of the MHA and the State Government,” Kakade claimed.

When contacted Sule said she did not want to comment as the matter was sub-judice.</td></tr></tbody></table>

If she bought a HDB resale, then definitely she is either a SG PR or citizen...



And even if she is a SG PR, she is an MP of India. What the fark is she doing in Singapore????

Why give her PR if she is an Indian MP??? This is what I don't understand. Is she a talent here in Singapore? That cannot be true cause she is an MP in India which means she is supposed to be spending most of her time representing her constituents in India!

Then what the fark are we giving her PR for?????

Don't tell me she is working here and use skype to meet her residents in India???

Nothing to do with Singapore side lah. Her problems are in India.

She could be a PR in Singapore by buying sentosa property (many of these Indian politicians have tons of $$$ outside country). Also she can be Singapore PR and Indian citizen. But if she is Singapore citizen then she has to give up Indian citizenship. Did not read that she is Singapore citizen.

And her problems lies in politics of India. some say Obama is not US citizen!
