Collection poser
'How serious are we about recycling our rubbish?'
MR AJIT SINGH NAGPAL: 'Today is when recycling bags are scheduled to be picked up after two weeks. However, because it is a public holiday, there will be no collection and we will have to wait another fortnight for collection. In other words, the collection will take place only after four weeks. Households have two options: Throw the recyclable garbage down the rubbish chute, or cart it to the nearest recycling bin in the neighbourhood. The chances are that most if not all will go down the rubbish chute. Why must collection be postponed when the collection day falls on a public holiday? Why can't the collection be done earlier? Are households expected to accumulate their recyclable garbage for four weeks? To make matters worse, only one yellow bag is provided, and when we use another bag, the collectors ignore it. How serious are we about recycling our rubbish?'
