HYDERABAD - A man strangled his mother as he could not stand her alcoholism, Tamil Nesan reported.
The 20-year-old storekeeper from Hyderabad, South India, took her to a lonely place and hit her head with a brick.
He then strangled her before dumping the body at a farm.
Police were informed by the farm owner who found the body on Saturday.
The man claimed ignorance at first but admitted to the crime after being questioned.
The woman Jayamma, 42, who worked as a labourer, was said to be drunk and created a ruckus at home almost daily.
The suspect became ashamed and embarrassed when neighbours started talking about his alcoholic mother.
Police said he decided to kill his mother after she refused to heed his constant warnings to stop drinking.
