A joint naval exercise is currently underway involving China's PLA Navy and the Russian Navy in the Peter the Great Gulf, the largest seaport in the Sea of Japan between July 5-12. About 18 surface combat vessels, one submarine, three fixed-wing aircraft, five helicopters and two special forces detachments are taking part in the joint exercise, the largest China has undertaken with a foreign country.
