In defence of Nair's LKY hoax

While it is certainly distasteful to spread such rumours, Nair's act reveals something about Singaporean society and mass media.

Here are the premises:

P1) Many were prepared to believe in the truth of this hoax; although
P2) Many people did think why other local news agencies did not report on this

Therefore, the conclusion(s):

C1) Most people have low levels of trust in the mainstream mass media, implicitly believing that the former would suppress such news (at least initially)
C2) People believe that LKY is going to drop dead any moment
