SINGAPORE: Train operator SMRT has announced plans to upgrade the North-South and East-West MRT lines.


The plans are expected to cost around S$900 million.


SMRT Corp announced the plans at a news conference on Tuesday, following a series of breakdowns over the last two weeks.


SMRT is discussing cost-sharing arrangements with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
