Dear The Real Singapore,

I am currently working in Mymmar and this is what I saw on the streets of my nearby office.

Singaporeans are trying very hard from all sectors trying to find a job and the government say that there are certain jobs that Singaporeans do not want to work as. Is this really the truth? All these job ads are looking for Mymmar workers to work on a Singapore S pass in Singapore with such a low pay. Singaporeans is seriously being push out by cheap foreign labour and the government is not doing anything to do about it.

A trip to Australia in perth shows that every single worker I see there is local Australians. From cashiers, sales assistants to even construction workers is done by local Australians.

The government is lying and cheating Singaporeans by insisting that we do not need a minimum wage. If minimum wage is not important for Singaporeans then why every other developed countries in the world has minimum wage?

Singaporeans need to wake up and vote out the PAP in 2016 if they really want better lives for themselves and children.

As a boss, I can pay a cheap foreign worker for $1500/mth or a Singaporean for $3000/mth which one will I choose? We shouldn't really blame businessman and bosses for preferring to hire foreign workers since they are capitalist and it is only wise for them to make the most profit out of their bussinesses.

We should blame the PAP government for not protecting the interests of Singaporeans.

And that is why the PAP, their rich elites and their doggie astroturfing IBs (some of whom are polluting this forum with their nonsense) are so against a minimum wage. They keep on attacking it. On and on they keep bashing it.

They know that once a minimum wage is implemented the gig is up. If there isn't much of a wage difference between a Sinkie and a foreigner for the same job, the Sinkie gets the comparative advantage. These employment agencies for FTs will perish overnight. The dreams of 6.9 million population will also perish immediately.

That is why I love it when plans for building a Kra Canal was announced. If there's anything to destroy the Ponzi fraud scheme of Singapore Inc, this is it.

Deliberately keep wages low so that all the GLCs (60% of the SSE) can make more money for Temasek.
Low wages is like heroin, it allows companies to use cheap labour without making capital investments to increase productivity.

Many years ago, I visited a friend in Canada and stayed at his house. Once a week, the city sends the garbage truck to collect his trash. Do you know how many garbage men collect the trash in this truck for his whole area? One!! I was so shock to see only the driver in the truck. All the garbage bins are specially designed, and the garbage truck has a mini fork lift. The driver uses the forklift on his truck to lift the garbage bin up, empty it in his truck, and puts it back down. All without him having to even leave the driver's seat of the garbage truck. How many people do the same job in Singapore? You have the driver of the garbage truck, and at least 2 other workers in the back running after the truck and emptying the garbage cans into it the whole time. SOmetimes, there are 3 other helpers. Altogether, I am sure NEA pays the garbage truck driver and the 2 helpers around $5000 a month (Driver $2000, helpers $1500 each). If they automate the whole process like in Canada, they can use only one driver. And they can afford to pay the driver more money. This would be a working wage that a SIngaporean can do, rather than provide 3 jobs for cheap FTs. To me, this is the whole essence of the problem.

Also, in places like Vancouver, Canada, the MRT has no train drivers!! Imagine that. The whole system is computer automated. In singapore, you have to pay a train driver (usually and FT from China), and the dumb fuck makes mistake that shuts the line down too. Also, if you ever travel in a western country and you see a high rise building under construction, just see how many workers they have on the site versus the number of workers in the same site here. Everything there is prefab offsite and assembled, as well, the higher use of equipment and different process reduces the need for expensive labour. These are just 3 small examples. If the govt. looks properly, there are many ways that labour usage can be replaced and eliminate the use of cheap FT labour, while paying a local more money to operate the more sophisticated and technical equipment that will replace the cheap FT labour.
