Is working in Singapore ‘worth it’ for expatriates?

In 2022, salary and benefits packages in Singapore rose by 4% to US$258,762.
Singapore remains to be one of the top places in Asia for expatriates in terms of pay and benefits, data from ECA International showed.

According to ECA International’s MyExpatriate Market Pay Survey, Singapore’s salary and benefits packages for expatriates rose by 4% in 2022 to US$258,762.

In Asia, Singapore is the 7th top country with the highest expatriate packages. Globally, the Lion City ranked 16th, rising six places.
ECA International said the cost of benefits in expatriate packages increased by 9% in 2022 due to a surge in the cost of expatriate accommodation in Singapore.

On the flip side, salaries for expatriates in Singapore fell US$4,000 in 2022, preventing the Lion City from moving up the rankings further.

“When considering the cost of an expatriate package, companies need to factor in three main elements: the cash salary, benefits – such as accommodation, international schools, utilities, or cars – and tax,” ECA International said.
