<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->TERRORISM continues to rear its ugly head. Recently, lives were lost senselessly in Mumbai. Up till now, the lives that were lost and the families who grieved were people in faraway lands. Now, sadly, we have lost a Singaporean. I join the many other Singaporeans who have offered condolences and support to the family of Ms Lo Hwei Yen.
The outpouring of grief by people from all walks of life points to the deep harmony we have built over the years in Singapore. We in Singapore, regardless of our racial backgrounds or religious beliefs, will never support or condone terrorist acts.
But the battle is not over, and constant vigilance is necessary. There will always be those who will try to undermine our harmony, with persuasive arguments, purportedly based on religious teachings. We must resist such attempts, and expose such attempts to the authorities.
We must never allow our harmony, built over so many years, to be shattered by terror. One life lost is already one too many. Zainudin Nordin
