During my career, it never ceases to amaze me that lame HR slogans like "employees are our most treasured assets" "happy, growing and engaged employees is everything to us" actually have an audience after so many decades.

It's bad enough wet in the ears fresh grads fall for that, but apparently plenty of experienced workers in their 40s and 50s actually believe in this! Many of them act like deer facing headlight in the middle of the night when told of their termination. Nuts.
