It was like a version of Romeo and Juliet….
A married couple committed suicide together in a motel room in Busan, Korea after suffering from poverty.
A heartwrenching suicide note was found.
“All we have is 800,000 won (RM2,226). We do not have the energy to live our lives. Please cremate our bodies,” the note read, according to a Yonhap News report
The room had been completely sealed with adhesive tape. The officials also found a wallet containing 600,000 won (RM1,669).
The unfortunate incident is just the tip of the iceberg...
The BBC reported South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world and has more than doubled since a decade-or-so ago.
But, just why are more South Koreans killing themselves?
The economy has been growing by an average of 7%, and unlike Japan, there have been no mass lay-offs and economic stagnation in the country....
