I bought a pair of $20 shoes from decathlon and I use them for walking exercises daily

Total distance cover since January 2026: 100km, about 6km at least every day after work and during weekend I walk 12 km.

I am now able to control my blood pressure below 120/80.

Total expenses is only $20

Bro do you sexercise ?

If you're walking, buy good walking shoes.

Decathlon stuff is more of a 'cheap, buy, use and throw' type. Some bags and shorts or even swimwear might be value for money. But other things, including footwear, there are better options elsewhere. Even Bata is better, you might see sales at Bata every now and then.

I was there when the first Decathlon opened in Chai Chee, near Bedok. Now there's no more novelty.

You can try walking about 40km. I walked from the west till the Jurassic Mile and then Changi Airport Terminal 4. Getting through the sectors (A, B, C, D...) of East Coast Park as you move eastwards was challenging.

Or get to Paya Lebar MRT area, then go southwards along Haig Road until you reach Marine Parade, then continue eastwards along East Coast Park. You skip the first two sectors A and B.

I must say that these cheap sneakers are quite good stuff.

Most importantly, I must maintain my current diet. Hopefully with exercise daily, I can always keep my blood pressure below 120/80.

Walking is really good and free of charge

If the shoes offer good support, and your feet, legs, hip don't feel sore, then they probably work fine for you. I walk more than I run these days, I started out with Skechers and Adidas years back, but have changed to Ascis and Hoka because they are both better for running and walking (for me).

I am not a professional marathon runner and I don’t speeds $200 for a pair of running shoes

Go Hanoi, shoe street. I bought good quality branded running shoes there. OEM? Fake? Backdoor? Dunno.... but still last after 2 years and more than 20km/ week

I had no choice. My feet need more support and cushioning. Also, you should get wide shoes so toes are not cramped at the tip. Can cause bunions.

Decathlon's running shoes are not good for running, just ideal for walking or slow jogs.

Their water shoes are superb and frequently sold out.

Hardcore runners e.g. run marathons here and around the world, need running shoes with carbon plated soles.

Those are expensive, and need to be replaced after racking up a certain mileage.

Some shoes from Asics and Nike will really improve running time.

You can also buy Tiong brand Anta shoes for walking or running.

I have always wondered why the SAF doesn't collaborate with Anta to make a pair of running shoes, instead choosing to give their business to Asics and New Balance.
