In the August 2011 issue of Men's Health magazine, this doctor Avery Gilbert who is a scent psychologist says that farts are smelly because of 3 kinds of gases viz hydrogen sulphide, dimethyl sulphide and methanethiol. He goes on to claim that women's gas contain a higher concentration of hydrogen sulphide resulting in stinkier farts.

So if you believe this guy then the following childhood rhyme would hold true
