In Part 2, we shall examine four legislations put in place by the government under the Trade Unions Act (Chapter 333) and the Industrial Relations Act (Chapter 136) to curtail the development of a separate independent trade union and the inherent rights of workers to form associations and to call for strikes.

Registration of trade unions

All trade unions in Singapore must be registered under Part III of the Trade Unions Act (Chapter 333) by the Registrar of Trade Unions appointed by the Finance Minister.
