Drugs in silk seized at airport
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Customs Department has detained a 27-year-old foreigner for attempting to smuggle 2.7kg of ketamine embedded into flower patterns on silk material.
The man was detained at Terminal One of the KK International Airport here on Dec 30 soon after arriving from Singapore.
State department director Mohd Kassim Ismail said the man entered the state with luggage filled with silk cloth when he was stopped at the airport.
The drugs were later found hidden within small pockets that were sewn onto the the cloth.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days.
He said samples of the drug had been sent to the Chemistry Department.
Kassim said the man was believed to be a member of an international drug distribution syndicate.
