The space between blocks 495 and 497 Jurong West Street 41 has been narrowed, thanks to these makeshift stalls set up by the market stallholders and STOMPer AK hopes that something would be done about it.

"It is a hazard because should an untoward accident (like a fire) occur, it would be disastrous as there is less than metre for pedestrians to walk in some places," he said.

"The space between these two blocks have narrowed down due to encroachments by the shop keepers and in some places it is less than a meter for the consumers’ walkway.

"This passage is also in a zigzag manner.

"With the present encroachment and in case of any untoward incident (such as a fire), we may end up with a disastrous situation with possible loss of lives and properties.

"A visit to the market will prove what I am mentioning is right.

"Are we waiting for the things to happen and then take the necessary action or we going to be proactive in our approach?

"I don’t know how many more markets are like this in Singapore."
